Role summary:
As a Mainframe Modernization Expert, you will be responsible for driving the transformation of our legacy mainframe systems into modern, cloud-native architectures that are scalable and secure. In this role you will use your expertise in mainframe technologies and modernization approaches to design practical solutions aligned with business and technology goals. You will work closely with stakeholders, development teams and cloud architects to drive modernization initiatives, improve system efficiency and support cloud adoption strategies. The role requires strong technical leadership, hands-on mainframe experience and the ability to drive complex modernization and transformation programs.
Required skills:
• Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, CICS and a good understanding of mainframe systems.
• Good knowledge of legacy database and storage technologies such as DB2 and VSAM.
• Solid understanding of the AWS cloud platform.
• Proven experience in mainframe modernization initiatives including cloud migration, API enablement and DevOps adoption.
• Experience with mainframe file transfer solutions such as CFT, FTP, SFTP etc.
• Experience working with middleware such as IBM MQ.
• Experience with mainframe modernization tools such as Rocket Enterprise Analyzer, Rocket Enterprise Developer and Rocket Enterprise Server.
• Proficiency in Python scripting for test automation, data validation, and report generation is highly desirable.
• Experience in mainframe batch scheduling, jcl optimization and workload management operations.
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with RACF security, code compilation process, release management, system design and mainframe system libraries.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Knowledge of 'T Systems Advanced Job Management (AJM)' and BMC Control-M job schedulers are an added advantage.
Job responsibilities:
• Create modernization roadmaps and lead end-to-end modernization of legacy mainframe applications into modern cloud-enabled architectures.
• Support migration teams by addressing queries related to the behavior, functionality and dependencies of existing mainframe applications during modernization initiatives.
• Collaborate with partners, professional services teams, and business stakeholders to successfully deliver end-to-end modernization initiatives.
• Develop Python-based automation scripts for regression testing, data comparison, and log analysis.
• Define and enforce standards for build, compile and release processes for cobol based workloads in modernized environments.
• Ensure end-to-end job scheduling, execution and dependency management is properly configured across mainframe workloads migrated to distributed/cloud infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to jcl execution, compilation failures and runtime anomalies in modernized mainframe environment.
• Provide testing support to migration teams, including functional validation, regression analysis, and behavior verification of migrated mainframe applications.
• Validate that the performance of migrated applications is optimized and benchmarked against the original mainframe systems, ensuring equivalent or improved runtime behavior.
